Manager / Director, National Tax Office

Alvarez & Marsal Tax is currently looking to grow our National Tax Office with the addition of a Manager or Director in one of our Tax locations. This position seeks a diverse tax background.

How you’ll contribute

  • Play a key role in helping build the A&M Tax's National Tax Office
  • Develop and deliver quality tax planning approaches with timely and responsive services and work product that meets and/or exceeds client expectations, including reviewing tax opinions, obtaining private letter rulings, and helping structure transactions
  • Stay current and ahead of cutting-edge tax-related developments, legislative and regulatory changes affecting the tax practice
  • Contribute to the growth, experience, and institutional knowledge of the A&M tax practice team members, including the providing of technical memos and opinions and oral presentations
  • Lead, participate in and contribute to market and business development activities external to the firm, including identifying and pursuing new potential client service opportunities by collaborating with A&M Tax’s practices

Qualifications

  • CPA, J.D. or LL.M. in Taxation required
  • 3-6+ years of progressive transactional tax consulting experience at a law firm, Department of the Treasury, IRS Chief Counsel, or CPA firm (experience with tax-free reorganizations, consolidated groups, and international transactions preferred)
  • Strong writing, analytical, research and organizational skills
  • Strong communication, presentation, project management, and business development skills
  • Strong sense of personal motivation as well as the ability to work with a team
  • Ability to work in dynamic, time-sensitive environment
  • Ability to manage and develop and mentor staff in a collaborative team environment
  • Demonstrate an understanding of increasingly complex tax concepts and effectively apply tax knowledge to client situations
  • Demonstrated track record of ability to develop and maintain existing internal and external client relationships and help build new relationships with key targets

Compensation Statement

The annual base salary range for Manager is $105,000 - $115,000 and for Director is $130,000 - $140,000 and is commensurate with experience. In addition, A&M offers a discretionary bonus program which is based on a number of factors, including individual and firm performance.  Please ask your recruiter for details.
