Our Restructuring practice offers critical assistance to companies that are under-performing or experiencing a full-blown liquidity crisis. Working directly with company management, A&M helps to stabilise financial and operational performance by developing and implementing comprehensive profitability and working capital improvements. A&M’s involvement reassures creditors that the company is taking important steps to address its problems and maximise its value.

A&M has worked on some of the largest cross-border corporate restructuring and transformation projects in the French marketplace. We are now seeking a Senior Associate as our Restructuring practice is growing and successfully generating work at a rapid pace.

This is a fantastic opportunity as A&M advise on every aspect of the restructuring process – from the strategy, to cash conservation and liquidity management, to business plan development and implementation – providing employees with a wide range of experiences and projects.

The successful appointee will have the opportunity to work across all phases and aspects of operational restructuring and turnaround initiatives. They will stabilise core operations by formulating and managing turnaround plans and negotiating with senior management and other key stakeholders. Working day-to-day alongside our clients, the successful appointee will develop an in-depth understanding of their financial position and key operational performance drivers.  This understanding is needed in order to create and implement successful restructuring and turnaround initiatives.

Main responsibilities:

  • Contribute to high profile French and European Restructuring projects reporting to Managing Directors & senior members of their teams  
  • Work with the team to offer critical assistance to companies that are under-performing or experiencing a full-blown liquidity crisis
  • Quickly understand a client’s rapidly changing situation to enable innovative solutions/ options for distressed businesses and their stakeholders
  • Liquidity management, including understanding the impact of risk, P&L and asset efficiency (working capital) and building 13-week cash flow forecasts
  • Financial modelling including assessing long-term company viability, as well as understanding and applying valuation methods in a restructuring context
  • Gain ‘on the job’ learning & development in addition to established formal training programmes

  • Cash & liquidity management and forecasting
  • Cross-border wind-downs
  • Preparation and validation of business plans for company management teams
  • Independent business reviews
  • Short term cash flow forecasting frameworks
  • Stakeholder reporting on PMO cost saving initiatives

The person

  • A highly numerate skill set that can include a robust understanding of financial and analytical accounting (ratio analysis)
  • 3 – 6 years of experience in an advisory or strategy firm / corporate restructuring team, or an investment or commercial banking firm
  • Experience in building integrated financial models combined with strong Excel/PowerPoint skills
  • Experience of working with operational & finance teams within large, distressed organisations – as an employee or an advisor
  • Well-developed communication skills & the ability to work with diverse and complex stakeholder groups
  • A consulting toolkit including how to frame a business issue, judiciously find and use internal and external data to test hypotheses and draw conclusions, structure and write PowerPoint & Word presentations and reports
  • A high grade Bachelor’s degree from a top “Grande Ecole” university
  • Native French & fluent English is essential. Additional European languages are advantageous
  • Objective, fact-based approach to problem solving
