Senior Associate, Valuation Services – Financial and Tax Reporting

What will you be doing?

As part of a select and highly skilled Financial & Tax Reporting Valuation team, you will have the opportunity to assist in the valuation of businesses, business interests, and various assets and liabilities in the context of business combinations, share-based compensation reporting, impairment testing and measurement, fresh-start accounting, intellectual property migration, and other transactions. You will assist in the review and consideration of company provided information (including financial statements, projected cash flows, and other relevant documentation) in order to derive indications of value using a variety of approaches including income (discounted cash flow, excess earnings, relief-from-royalty, among other methods) market (both public traded company, and precedent transaction methods), and cost (replacement cost method). You will also analyze market and industry information for use in the financial models and to develop discount rates, market multiples, and other key statistics / inputs. Through your detailed analysis, you will develop an in-depth understanding of the client from the big picture to the smallest detail, covering why investments were made, the terms, the value, and associated risks. As a Senior Associate, you will also be tasked with reviewing and supervising the work product of Associates. Your ability to train Associates in areas of valuation will be key in this position. Some of the primary responsibilities are:

  • Supervising and delegating work to Associates as required.
  • Providing project and resource management for project teams.
  • Training Associates in areas of research and valuation basics.
  • Analyzing client provided data including financial statements and projections as well as market and industry information.
  • Developing discount rates and market multiples.
  • Assist in developing narrative reports describing the methodologies used, key assumptions and rationale, and findings.
  • Managing and planning own project workflows.
  • Organizing and managing internal projects and client documents.
  • Actively participating and leading elements in due diligence calls and meetings with clients.

The indications of value that are derived from your analysis will be used by clients in their financial statements, reports to their boards of directors, and required tax filings in various tax jurisdictions. Third-party auditors and tax advisors for the client will review your indications of value and test for soundness and completeness.

Core Qualifications: 

  • At least 2 years of valuation and modeling experience gained at a Big 4 or other reputable consulting firm, investment bank or independent valuation firm
  • Experience conducting a variety of financial analyses and financial modeling
  • Strong educational background and academic record, including a bachelor's or master's degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics and/or Mathematics
  • Excellent analytic foundation with advanced understanding of financial statements and various valuation methodologies (DCF, LBO, comparable company analysis, etc.)
  • Experience with Capital IQ
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills
  • Strong writing skills and experience with developing presentations and reports using PowerPoint and Microsoft Word
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Effective project management and organizational skills
  • Ambitious, results driven, self-starter with a desire to thrive in a collaborative entrepreneurial culture
