Junior Associate / Associate, Private Client Services (Family Office)

Alvarez & Marsal's Tax practice has an opportunity to be part of the very fast-growing Private Client Services (PCS) group, providing diverse administrative and day-to-day accounting, financial and administrative support to our High Net Worth clients. The Junior Associate/Associate will be an integral part of the Private Client Services group, providing diverse administrative and day-to-day accounting, financial and administrative support to High Net Worth clients. Our ideal candidate will have an extensive accounting/bookkeeping background; strong interpersonal skills with an approachable and professional demeanor; excellent verbal and written communication skills; able to handle and respond to multiple client and department demands; thrives in a fast paced and dynamic environment and is a team player but able to work independently.

What will you be doing

You will focus on recording and memorializing transactions as efficiently and effectively as possible. This person is the conduit for the family and other third-party professionals for the family. The position requires a person of diverse talents who learns quickly, is highly organized, initiates solutions and builds relationships with existing clients.

  • Responsible for providing multiple clients with a variety of bookkeeping and administrative services including but not limited to the following:
  • Responsible for the full accounting processes, i.e. timely posting of all financial transactions to G/L, maintain the general ledger, generate & post all journal entries, coordinate monthly close, and prepare financial reports
  • Manage the accounting/bookkeeping functions for specific families that includes: accounts payables, ensuring accurate, authorized invoices and payments are processed in a timely manner
  • Manage and reconcile numerous bank accounts
  • Assist with the preparation of monthly/quarterly financial reports with related work papers
  • Assist in preparation of annual tax package and supporting documents
  • Compile and analyze financial information to prepare entries to accounts, such as general ledger accounts and documenting business transactions
  • Establish, modify, document, and coordinate implementation of accounting and accounting control procedures
  • Handle special projects and any other duties as needed

Qualifications:

  • Private Client Service/Family Office experience, a plus
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting required
  • Driven and willing to be part of growing organization
  • High level of integrity and respect the confidential nature of the information that they are privy to in the Private Client Services Group
  • Strong understanding and ability to interpret financial statements and financial reports
  • Well organized, strong attention to detail, effective time management
  • A “can do” attitude and willingness to go above and beyond is highly desired
  • Strong knowledge and experience in QuickBooks
  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office including Excel, Word, Outlook
  • Proven record of communicating, both verbally and in writing, in a professional manner
  • Strong interpersonal skills and desire to work directly with clients
  • Ability to work independently and follow through on assignments with limited direction
  • Strong time and project management skills
  • Highly organized and able to multi-task and manage multiple client requests
  • Able to work overtime if needed
  • Bilingual, preferred
