Alvarez & Marsal Insurance and Risk Management is seeking Associates, Senior Associates and Managers for its Insurable Risk Management (iRM) Consultancy Practice

A&M’s Insurance and Risk Advisory Services (IRAS) practice provides advisory services to Private Equity, Corporates and Insurance Organizations leveraging two foundational practice groups; Insurable Risk Management (iRM) Consultancy and Insurance Industry Vertical (IIV) Advisory.  The IRAS practice not only serves clients directly, but also supports other A&M practices including Corporate Performance Improvement, Transaction Advisory and Restructuring/ Corporate Transformation.

Insurable Risk Management (iRM) Consultancy

IRAS supports client companies across all industries with iRM consultancy services, including: dynamic companies in transition or seeking performance improvement; acquiring companies seeking due diligence, deal enhancement, planning, integration and post-close value creation; distressed companies in turnaround, restructuring or dissolution; and private equity management companies seeking risk management prudence.

iRM solutions include: insurance and risk management consulting (technical, strategic, operational); interim (risk) management leadership or staff augmentation; broker oversight; enterprise risk management (eRM) support; and targeted insurance coverage support such as cyber, surety & performance security and D&O consulting/oversight.

iRM Consultancy is a client-centric, immersive engagement framework.  The IRAS iRM team members multi-task together to serve many clients on many (often short-term, quick turnaround) engagements. To leverage our collective insurance industry experiences and expertise, our client service teams operate as a cohesive team in a project-managed environment. As a result, suitable team members are high performers across a diverse set of insurance experiences, experience levels and expertise. 

Qualifications

  • Education – Bachelor’s Degree in insurance, risk management or other relevant majors, with a proven track record of high performance and industry participation.  Other majors may be acceptable if supported by strong industry experience and insurance industry designations such as CPCU and ARM.
  • Professional Experience – Strong insurance or risk management industry experience with a proven track record evidencing commitment, endurance, initiative & drive, professional learning & development, and high performance.
    • Professional Experience: 3-10+ years
    • Specific Experiences of Interest: broad-based P&C and/or employee benefits broking; private equity insurance due diligence; private equity insurance consulting; D&O underwriting or broking; and/or project management.
  • Work Flexibility: Must have ability to work effectively in office, from home and on road – both within normal working hours and outside of working hours – as may be required

Professional Skills

  • Team skills: high emotional EQ required (high contribution coupled with grounded expectations); ability to take direction and be coached; ability to contribute to a project at times and own a project at other times; ability to put ego aside and contribute to the whole; and capacity to be a consistent contributor of positive energy to the team.
  • Analytical Skills: Strong ability to conduct “deep dive” and meticulous analyses of risk exposures, insurance programs, program strategy and insurance policy contracts; initiative to research and find answers; ability to recognize and prioritize critical information; and ability to develop meticulous and understandable assessment documents.
  • Organizational/Productivity Skills: Strong organizational, multi-tasking, work planning and time-management skills, including ability to meet deadlines and maintain task diaries & task communications in project management system
  • Project Management of Others: Must have skills to manage others, particularly client brokers/vendors
  • PC skills: Advanced MS Word/Excel/PowerPoint skills required, along with proven propensity to develop skills in professional software tools.
  • Written Communication Skills: Strong, including ability to create efficient presentations for communicating complex topics in a way that will be easily understandable for the intended readers. 
  • Oral Communication Skills: Strong oral communication and presentation skills, as well as client facing (relationship building) skills and vendor management skills.  Must exude confidence, while being both self-aware and an effective listener.

The salary range is $90,000 - $190,000 annually, dependent on several variables including but not limited to education, experience, skills, and geography. In addition, A&M offers a discretionary bonus program which is based on a number of factors, including individual and firm performance.  Please ask your recruiter for details.
