Assistant Insolvency Cashier - Restructuring & Insolvency

Our UK Insolvency team is over 250 people strong and works with management and company stakeholders in times of stress and distress to preserve value and has a wide experience of taking insolvency appointments to a broad range of large, complex, cross border and mid-sized corporate entities.  We have a robust track record of delivering both financial and operational restructurings through insolvency processes and have been appointed to some of the largest and highest profile U.K. insolvencies.

We are winning and delivering work for clients at a rapid pace and, as a result, we are recruiting a talented individual to join our expanding team as an Assistant Insolvency Cashier.

The opportunity

The role is to assist senior insolvency cashiers with general office tasks and voucher processing, and involves the following:

  • Report directly to senior cashiers and insolvency practitioners
  • Opening, closing and maintenance of bank accounts
  • Banking and recording receipts
  • Processing payments
  • Completing bank reconciliations to a required deadline
  • Preparation of statutory returns
  • Posting of journals
  • Updating IPS diary
  • Adhering to internal procedures
  • Accurately filing documents in the document management system
  • Helping the wider team with queries

All locations are considered, preferably nearby to one of our offices (Leeds, Manchester, Birmingham, Edinburgh, Glasgow, London).  This role offers hybrid working and you will also benefit from Alvarez and Marsal’s flexible working culture.

The person

  • The successful candidate will display an inquisitive and analytical approach and a keen eye for detail.
  • Your excellent organisational skills will support you in prioritising a busy workload using your own initiative.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills are essential, along with a thorough understanding of Microsoft Office programs and a willingness to learn and develop new skills.
  • Objective, fact-based approach to problem solving.
  • Driven by values and integrity, building confidence and leading by example.
  • Previous experience is desirable but not essential .
