Director of Network Engineering

What We’re Looking For:

  • We are seeking an experienced, highly motivated, and action orientated Director of Network Engineering to lead a global team responsible for the design, implementation, and maintenance of A&M’s Network infrastructure. The ideal candidate will have a deep understating of networking technologies, a proven track record of designing and implementing complex networking solutions, as well as experience managing a global team of engineers.

The Director of Network Engineering will report to the CTO, and works closely with other Network, Infrastructure, Operations, Security, and Application Engineer and Developer teams, as well as end users, to implement, maintain and monitor and maintain production and dev environments in a 24/7/365 global environment.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement a strategic vision for the network engineering team, focusing on the future needs of the organization and ensuring alignment with overall business goals and objectives.

  • Oversee the design, implementation, and maintenance of our global network infrastructure, including data centers, campus networks, and wide area networks.

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop network architecture, standards, and policies that support our business objectives and ensure network performance, availability, and security.

  • Manage the network engineering budget, ensuring cost-effective and efficient use of resources.

  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with network service providers and vendors, negotiating contracts and managing SLAs and SLOs

  • Implement and maintain a full hardware lifecycle management program

  • Lead and mentor a team of network engineers, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and professional growth.

  • Ensure compliance with industry standards, regulations, and best practices in network design and operations.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field; advanced degree preferred.

  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in network engineering, with at least 5 years in a leadership role.

  • Strong understanding of network architectures, protocols, and technologies, including MPLS, BGP, OSPF, IPv6, and SD-WAN.

  • Experience implementing Azure an advantage

  • Proven experience designing, implementing, and managing large-scale, complex network infrastructures.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively communicate technical concepts to non-technical audiences.

  • Demonstrated ability to lead and mentor a team of engineers.

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

  • Ability to multi-task and be creative and innovative in a dynamic, fast paced team environment.

  • Experience managing small projects and leading initiatives with minimal direction throughout the project lifecycle.
