Alvarez & Marsal (A&M), a leading independent global professional services firm, specializing in providing turnaround management, performance improvement and advisory services, is seeking an Assistant General Counsel – Client Engagements.

Working with senior members of the Legal Department, this key member of the legal team will assist in protecting the organization's legal interests and provide hands-on support to senior attorneys and consulting staff. The Assistant General Counsel is responsible for reviewing key documents, analyzing legal and risk issues, presenting clear recommendations, and assisting in the assurance of legal compliance.

Essential Functions

  • Work with the legal and corporate teams on contracting matters such as client engagement agreements, confidentiality agreements, vendor agreements, and ancillary client-related agreements (e.g., IP and technology)
  • Discuss and explain the implications of contracts with stakeholders in corporate and across various division of A&M

Qualifications

  • 2-5 years of experience as an attorney, in-house experience helpful but not required
  • Member of the NY State Bar
  • Requires a Juris Doctorate degree from an accredited law school
  • Ability to prioritize and complete zero-defect work product in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to effectively communicate complex issues to senior business executives
  • Strong organizational and project management skills
  • Takes ownership of issues, is highly responsive and driven to take action quickly
