The Team

Governance, Risk & Compliance (GRC) continues to challenge businesses globally and within Compliance Business Conduct and Ethics (BC&E) is becoming increasingly important and a specialist team is being created to deliver this expertise.

We bring a practical, results-oriented approach to delivering client needs led by our subject matter experts and drawing on the deep skills, diverse disciplines and experiences of our professionals who offer a unique ability to articulate complex findings in a clear and meaningful manner. We provide bespoke advisory services, training, risk and maturity assessments, assurance reviews, build infrastructures and operationalize our recommendations in line with appropriate benchmarks.

The Role

A&M is expanding in EMEA, and we are seeking a Business Conduct & Ethics Director to join our Riyadh office. Working closely with the Managing Director of Governance, Risk and Compliance, you will primarily serve clients in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia together with the Middle East generally.

Working with clients across a range of industries and geographies, you will deliver innovative solutions to some of the most challenging BC&E issues within clients, which have different organizational structures and cultures, risk appetites, budgets, many of which additionally have local and regional regulatory requirements.

You will lead assignments such as:

  • Conducting BC&E reviews including risk assessments, maturity assessments, assurance reviews and assisting clients in implementing the recommendations.
  • Building infrastructures and frameworks for addressing all BC&E issues, including client related issues (e.g., investor protection, suitability, financial promotions, marketing), market abuse, sales and trading, deposit taking, client money & client assets, conflicts of interest, client confidentiality, Chinese Walls, record keeping, investment research, data protection, privacy, whistleblowing and employee codes of conduct.  Infrastructure projects involve transforming policies, procedures, systems, controls, monitoring, escalation, training (online and in person) and reporting mechanisms.
  • Assisting clients in operationalizing BC&E infrastructures (onsite line management work).
  • Assisting clients to remediate adverse regulatory findings or manage intense regulatory scrutiny.

Key Responsibilities

  • Act as a subject matter expert on the full range of Business Conduct and Ethical issues.
  • Successfully identify client needs and establish yourself as their trusted advisor. You will be recognized by the client as the lead for value contributed on engagements and therefore build your own credible network of contacts and referral sources with clients, professionals, and institutions. You will be actively involved in business development and be an integral part of the team.
  • Develop, manage and maintain a team of SMEs and consultants that is fit for purpose and fully conversant with templates, standards and practices that you will develop. 
  • Lead assignments with clients covering all BC&E issues and delegating to team members where appropriate.
  • Simultaneously manage a portfolio of client assignments.
  • Support our clients to proactively monitor and address important BC&E risks within their business, including those which may arise from their relationships with third parties and business partners.

The Requirements

We are looking for people who have the following experience, knowledge, skills and abilities:

  • 15+ years of BC&E experience and a strong track record of development work in a combination of blue-chip investment banks, brokerages, Big 4 consultancies or equivalent organizations, from reputable jurisdictions such as the UK and Middle East.
  • A subject matter expert on the full range of BC&E issues.
  • Excellent experience in systems implementation for due diligence, transaction monitoring and reporting.
  • The ability to develop templates for BC&E assignments and develop a team of consultants.
  • Ability to undertake onsite line management work as well as consultancy assignments.
  • Strong academic track record including a degree (or equivalent) in Accounting, Finance, Economics, Law (or other business related subject).
  • A professional qualification including ACA/ACCA/CFA/MBA qualification (or equivalent) is advantageous.
  • A well-developed consulting toolkit including how to frame a business issue, judiciously find and use internal and external data to test hypotheses and draw conclusions, business model using Excel, structure and write PowerPoint and Word presentations and reports.
  • Fluency and strong report writing skills in English are essential. Arabic language skills are desirable but not essential.
  • Well-developed stakeholder management skills including building client relationships, managing expectations and assisting with business development.
  • Ability to execute and manage multiple streams of work and experienced in synthesizing information and developing reports.
