About the job:

Our office in Madrid is currently looking to hire an Iberia HR Manager to support our local team responsible for Spain and Portugal. The ideal candidate will be a true HR generalist professional with broad expertise across the employee lifecycle. The nature of the role is that you will be seen as the HR go-to expert for all colleagues in the country/region. This is an exciting role is highly varied and is hands-on, including HR Operational matters, Employee Relations and managing senior stakeholders, to work with a growing and evolving business and to be part of the EMEA HR Community. With our ambitious growth plans, and continued expansion across EMEA, there are significant opportunities to grow the remit of this role over time.

This role encourages creativity and a high degree of HR autonomy within your country/region, to develop your own relationships with colleagues and make on the ground people decisions. You will have the full support of the central HR EMEA function which includes dedicated expertise across the employee experience (HR Operations, Benefits, Global Mobility, Inclusive Diversity, Business Partnering, L&D and Project Management).

You will possess excellent collaboration skills with other support functions and colleagues, know when to delegate tasks to your colleagues and when to escalate to seek further support. 

You will have opportunities to own local and EMEA-wide projects and support the implementation of core projects within your country/region. You must locally champion the ‘A&M way’, our Culture and Values and support a consistent approach to people matters across EMEA (noting local cultural and legal differences).

The EMEA Headquarters are based in London where the majority of the EMEA HR team are based. You will be joining a highly creative and ambitious team who are passionate about creating an outstanding culture and employee experience for our colleagues. You will have a formal reporting line within HR.

Key duties of the role include:

  • Act as the go-to local HR contact for all HR-related matters, with support from your HR colleagues.
  • Develop a deep knowledge and understanding of your business areas and build high quality, trusted relationships with key stakeholders

What you will be doing:

  • Directly manage and resolve local HR Operations queries   duties (eg compensation queries, benefits queries, references, support visa processing, local HR interface with payroll etc). To coordinate closely with the HR Operations Team and local HR and Benefits providers. Process Workday changes and produce and provide reports and ensure data integrity for all HR employees in Spain and Portugal
  • Support the HR Business Partnering team to co-manage all local employee relations matters (eg probations, performance issues, terminations, absences, grievances etc) and local employment counsel as needed
  • Manage the employee lifecycle and facilitate local processes. For example, create an outstanding local onboarding experience through to well managed exits. Lead absence and other HR related protocols
  • Active member of the HR EMEA function, to connect with all teams, keep the leaders of all HR functions informed and consulted as appropriate
  • Own, review and develop improved HR local processes and policies to agree with HR Leads. Communicate policies and process to employees ensuring awareness and compliance
  • Ensure that the local protocols, policies and templates, including employment contracts and all other employment related templates, are up to date and in compliance with all appropriate labour laws. Keep HR Leads informed of any key changes in legislation
  • In conjunction with your HR colleagues, to continuously improve the employee experience locally and across EMEA
  • Provide Managers with the right tools to ensure employee performance is optimised, identifying, and facilitating appropriate interventions through the performance framework
  • Understand People related processes and policies, partnering with business areas to ensure best practice, whilst maintaining a pragmatic approach
  • Produce, analyse and share data to identify trends and assist with recommendations on how to address challenges and opportunities

What is important for the role

  • Work as part of a team to ensure queries are answered in an efficient and timely manner (error-free) against KPI’s and SLA’s
  • Act as the key liaison to the local work committee where applicable from an HR perspective
  • Ideally you will have approximately 6-8 years of HR experience with a proven HR generalist background
  • Excellent knowledge of local labour laws and people related legal compliance requirements
  • Strong knowledge of HR processes and best practices, including payroll, benefits.
  • Experience liaising and communicating with multiple stakeholders ideally in an international organization.
  • Relevant and proven working international experience.
  • Experience in delivering high quality advisory services to senior stakeholders with reference to firm culture, processes, precedents, commercials, and legal risk
  • Excellent teaming and collaboration skills, capability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Self-motivated, creative, team player and possesses analytical skills
  • Good knowledge of local labour law
  • Fluent English and Spanish. Portuguese language skills would be ideal but not essential Proficient in Microsoft applications
  • Able to work confidentially at all times.
  • Working knowledge of a HR management system, ideally Workday
