Senior Associate, Disputes and Investigations

What will you be doing?

You will be working closely with a team to assess complex real estate and economic damages claims arising from alleged environmental conditions or other disamenities. You will support clients in all aspects of litigation, including discovery, evaluating class certification, analyzing data for affirmative opinions, and critiquing opposing experts for rebuttal opinions.

Using your finance, real estate, economics, appraisal, and statistics training, you will be helping our clients and their counsel understand and resolve the economic issues around their legal matters across a wide range of projects and industries, including financial services, healthcare, energy, manufacturing, and technology. Working as a partner to our clients by building consultative relationships you will develop an in-depth understanding of the client, the industry and the case to surface and address key issues, from the big picture to the smallest details. You will develop and communicate your analyses, findings, and insights to your team. Relying on your initiative and flexibility to deliver results in an agile and collaborative team environment, you will build strong relationships with clients, legal counsel, and expert witnesses. Some of the main responsibilities are:

  • Assisting with compiling, analyzing, and documenting demographic, property, and real estate market data
  • Contributing to the creation and revision of complex damages analyses
  • Documenting analyses assumptions, methodologies, and sources of information used
  • Assisting with the drafting of reports and other client deliverables
  • Performing quality control review of reports and other client deliverables
  • Researching technical and industry-specific issues
  • Developing and suggesting solutions to complex problems
  • Balancing multiple client projects and other responsibilities
  • Communicating proactively and presenting effectively to all levels of the engagement team

Qualifications: 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Real Estate, Economics, Finance, or Statistics
  • 1-4 years of experience in economic consulting or equivalent
  • Proficient with Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Access and managing large data sets
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Attention to detail and accuracy
  • Effective interpersonal skills - good team player with the ability to work under pressure
  • Ability and willingness to maintain a flexible work schedule in order to meet client needs
  • Ability to work in a flexible hybrid work arrangement, part time in physical office and remote
  • Flexibility to travel

Preferred:

  • Master’s degree in Real Estate, Economics, Finance, or Statistics
  • Experience with Geographic Information Systems (GIS) software such as ArcGIS by Esri

The salary range is $90,000 - $110,000 annually, dependent on several variables including but not limited to education, experience, skills, and geography. In addition, A&M offers a discretionary bonus program which is based on a number of factors, including individual and firm performance.  Please ask your recruiter for details.
