Alvarez and Marsal’s Digital and Technology professionals work with corporate clients, private equity firms and their portfolio companies to drive new forms of value creation - top and bottom-line growth - throughout the entire investment lifecycle. Through our Smart Connected Operations & Products team within our Digital and Technology Services (DTS) practice, Alvarez & Marsal (A&M) helps clients further improve Product Development, Manufacturing, Supply Chain and Field Service performance through the application of value adding Digital Technologies and Data Science.  Working directly with client management, A&M's involvement reassures all stakeholders the company is taking important steps to address key market opportunities or challenges and maximize the value of its business and technology investments moving forward.

The Purpose of the Digital and Technology Team:


The focus of this team is to help A&M’s clients to understand the capability and impact of digital transformation and technology. You will advise in shaping their vision of digital technology and business capabilities focused on product and operations. This involves working with the client to envisage improved execution capability, link the power of digital technology, design the operating model, value the opportunity and advise through implementation.  

Smart Connected Operations - using your skills in applying digital technologies to Manufacturing & Supply Chain Operations, you will own and deliver the transformation for our clients. Skills in product development, manufacturing operations, supply chain or field service operations including operating model design, business analysis, business process and organization design will all be learned, developed and tailored for our clients’ needs. 

Our consultants’ not only form strategies or advise the clients, but also build alongside cross-functional teams - becoming part of client teams and operating fully end to end, from problem identification to formulating strategy and delivering the end product. You will work on transferring capabilities to help our clients use digital technology to transform their businesses. You will work with clients and teams on broader consulting work that includes strategy, operations/processes, training, organizational structuring, new digital initiatives, and marketing with a strong digital focus.

Responsibilities at Director level:

This opportunity requires entrepreneurial talent with a balanced acumen of creative, analytical, and financial problem-solving skills, drawing from experiences in MBB or Big 4 consulting, start-up / scale-up innovation hubs, Private Equity, and / or target industries such as Automotive, Machinery, Utilities, CPG, Oil & Gas, Petrochemicals, Mining, Metals, and Cement.  

As an integral member of the A&M European team, you will be working on high value engagements throughout Europe applying new digital concepts to identify, frame, and pursue new sources of value throughout the full transformation lifecycle with corporates or the full deal cycle with private equity firms (e.g., operational due diligences, carveouts, mergers, turnaround, transformation, and exits).

As a Director (m/f/d), you will be working closely with world class colleagues in a flat team structure. You will be positioned and enabled to lead work streams, with constant exposure to CXOs and -1/-2 reports, while leveraging the full breadth of senior experts across industry and functional domains across A&M. Additionally, you will lead on a range of practice development efforts. These range from eminence building and marketing to amplify A&M’s perspective on digital disruptions and trends specific to each industry, to business development and asset building in the form of PoVs, pitches, offerings, models, and collateral co-created with an ecosystem of external partners and advisors.

You will specifically support the delivery of digital transformation projects (Smart Connected Operations & Products) within the UK region and EMEA, where identifying disruptive transformation levers and managing political complexity will be key to generate significant and sustainable savings.

To this effectively, you will need to:

  • Work closely with senior stakeholders in the client’s business and with professionals from leading financial institutions;
  • Be creative to generate break through ideas regarding transformation levers;
  • Be an action-oriented self-starter with strong analytical skills and entrepreneurial flair;
  • Have a strong exposure to client, be able to deal with top executives in complex situation; supporting customer and client needs with industry leading solutions
  • Be proactive in industry events e.g. conferences, forums, debates – ensure the Company is perceived as a key player in the Digital Transformation space.

Requirements:

Experience & abilities will depend a little on the focus area but are likely to include:

  • Education: a high-grade degree qualification (or equivalent) in a relevant subject;
  • Experience within advisory (ideally from a large Professional Services firm or from a digitally focused boutique), working on large scale transformation program and highly exposed to top management;
  • Previous experience in manufacturing operations, supply chain, logistics or field service operations;
  • Previous experience delivering digital transformation projects in a consulting or client-side role e.g., strategic consulting (digital strategies, digital roadmaps, workflows...), familiarity with established and emerging technologies (IIoT, data analytics, automation, artificial intelligence, cloud migration, blockchain, computer vision and digital twins..) and ability to integrate Digital Transformation into other service offerings such as process improvement or operations excellence, stakeholder engagement, change management;
  • Fluent English and fluent German language skills are essential along with excellent writing skills; Additional European languages spoken at a fluent level welcomed;
  • A creative, strategic thinker who can bring innovative ideas, a new perspective or a new strategy to the table to challenge the status quos
  • Solution oriented, data driven, learning mind-sets; 
  • An understanding of change management thinking – especially pertaining to disruptive technologies highly desired;
  • Willingness to travel;
