The Role

We are currently looking for a Finance Manager to oversee the needs of Alvarez & Marsal’s Middle East practice with a population of 180+ employees reporting to our Finance team in the UK. We are looking for a senior professional to support the high growth in the region in the coming years. This person will be responsible for the budgeting, forecasting, reporting, and looking after key accounts, and supporting the executive management team by offering insights and financial advice that will allow them to make the best business decisions for the company.

This role supports at C-Suite and at team level, and candidates should be able to operate at the highest level with all colleagues, regardless of their titles. The right work ethic, personality and overall attitude is especially important, and the company fit needs to be right. You will be an individual with a positive nature, high energy, and a strong team spirit. The ability to multitask with exemplary time management skills is paramount as is strong interpersonal skills.

The Responsibilities

  • Generate and present management information reports using Power BI tools as needed, providing financial insights to the team.
  • Manage and oversee budgetary aspects of the Middle East business units, including budget preparation, tracking, and reporting.
  • Run and analyse P&L statements by strategic business unit, identifying exceptions and following up on necessary resolutions.
  • Provide insights and suggestions to the wider Finance and Operations teams for improvement of financial processes and controls.
  • Support project set up requirements in liaison with required internal teams to understand contracting options/requirements for tax optimisation and VAT regulation.
  • Conduct profitability reviews and analysis, including engagement economics, client administration, working capital, and review of cost allocations.
  • Ensure the accuracy of financial projections in the long-term forecasting process.
  • Support financial administrative processes, including VAT, tax, audit, reporting, and compliance requirements in liaison with relevant internal Finance teams.
  • Provide administrative support for financial management reporting requirements for Middle East regulated businesses.
  • Review project and overhead expenditures, ensuring compliance with company policies.
  • Provide guidance and education to employees on expense claims that are not aligned with policy.
  • Monitor and analyse business development costs and conversion rates, providing feedback to the relevant teams.
  • Working with Treasury to oversee regional bid bond and performance bond processes.
  • Working with Treasury to manage credit lines, banking processes, signatories and approval limits.
  • Maintain banking relationships for our Middle East accounts.
  • Working with Treasury to support the creation of new banking services as required.
  • Maintain effective management of frame agreements and provide necessary reporting.
  • Identify reporting requirements and collaborate with relevant teams to develop necessary reports.
  • Support development of other Finance employees in the Middle East region.

Requirements

We are looking for people who have the following experience, knowledge, skills & abilities:

  • The ideal candidate will have come from a fast-paced professional services firm and have experience working in a muti-national organization with fast growth.
  • A relevant high-grade bachelor’s degree (or equivalent/higher) from an accredited top-tier university (e.g. accounting or finance). 
  • Additional accounting qualifications advantageous
  • 7+ years of experience, ideally in Professional Services or Management Consulting
  • Extremely Proficient with Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint
  • Ability to prioritize and multi-task
  • Organizational fit with A&M’s culture and values
  • Flexibility to work longer hours as needed to support business requirements
  • Ability to quickly articulate and communicate information to all levels of the organisation
  • Strong stakeholder management skills
  • Ability to push back against any requests misaligned with protocols
