A&M FSI works with leading Financial Services Institutions across Europe and our expertise revolves around four core areas: Performance Improvement, Loan Portfolio Advisory, Bank Restructuring and Regulatory Advisory. This role sits within the Financial Services (FSI) team at Alvarez and Marsal in London. A&M FSI comprises of three core areas of expertise – Risk & Regulatory (R&R), Performance Improvement (PI) and Portfolio Advisory Group (PAG). We work with clients across the financial services space, with a focus on private equity investors, banks, insurers, wealth and asset managers and other specialised financial services firms. A&M’s FSI professionals work on some of the world’s most high-profile cases in a rapidly transforming financial services landscape, striving for game-changing solutions that provide impactful long-term change. Our global team is comprised of seasoned financial services executives from diverse backgrounds, former senior industry executives, financial institution regulators, and highly skilled consultants.

Purpose of the role:

An opportunity exists in our London office for an experienced professional in insurance at the Associate/Senior Associate level. Entrenched in the challenges that the Insurance sector faces in today’s challenging market conditions, the successful hire will be experienced in designing solutions, conducting strategic reviews or business diagnostics, executing change delivery, and solutions that address businesses’ critical issues.

The successful candidate will work with our existing team and build the profile and reputation of the Firm in the Performance Improvement (PI) with a route to market directly into Insurance across the European region. Building on the success of the A&M brand, the successful candidate will bring experience from both operational and advisory roles in the Insurance sector.

The preferred candidate will support the execution of the A&M PI strategy for key clients and distinctive go-to-market propositions. They will reflect the operational distinctiveness that is A&M; business-savvy, solution-focused, and determined to make a difference.

As part of a highly skilled team, you will have the opportunity to;

  • Contribute to a wide range of projects & work streams
  • Participate in rapid diagnostics through analytical and qualitative insight
  • Develop and execute transformation plans including new target operating models, post-merger integrations and carve outs, cost reduction and revenue enhancement opportunities
  • Synthesizing information into high quality client reports and recommendations
  • Gain ‘on the job’ learning & development in addition to established formal training programmes
  • Network with our service lines and work on external marketing events to build cross- service line relationships

Requirements:

  • Strong academic track record combined with an action-oriented approach and well-developed analytical skills
  • Previous experience within Insurance advisory space. This experience may have been gained at a leading insurance firm, a Big 4 Firm or other respected Advisory firms
  • Financial modelling skills (Excel) and presentation skills (PowerPoint) essential and knowledge of Alteryx, Tableau, Python would be advantageous
  • Methodical and logical mindset to problem solving, an effective approach to time management and the ability to work to tight deadlines and in teams
  • Fluent business level English is essential. Additional European language skills including French, Spanish, Dutch, German or Italian are highly desirable
