A&M's Indirect Tax team is composed of seasoned tax professionals experienced in providing practical tax advice on all indirect tax matters to a variety of industries. By utilising an integrated approach with A&M professionals with deep operating and financial-related experience, the team uses a focused and tailored approach to rapidly identify and understand potential deal breakers, value drivers and other areas of specific interest to our clients. 

The Indirect Tax professionals team with the firms Global Transaction Tax, Global Transaction Advisory Group and Performance Improvement practices to deliver a truly integrated solution to clients.

Responsibilities

  • Provide well-researched and supported practical indirect tax advice to clients from all industries covering all indirect tax matters.
  • Assist clients in engagements and interactions with, and reviews by, revenue authorities, including strategic advice on managing complex indirect tax risks.
  • Manage indirect tax due diligence projects, helping to identify key indirect tax risks and potential deal breakers, and indirect tax structuring for the potential transaction in the context of their clients investment strategy
  • Analyse detailed indirect tax computations and other indirect tax documents to convert the data into meaningful information that is used to drive discussions with target management and drive observations and conclusions
  • Assess the quality of clients' indirect tax management function and compliance.
  • Manage the preparation of indirect tax due diligence and indirect tax structuring reports and presentations for clients that highlight the key indirect tax findings and supporting analysis.
  • Manage various indirect tax advisory assignments, including but not limited to, fund structuring advice, legal entity and operational restructuring
  • Review and comment on indirect tax aspects of financial models
  • Assist with business development efforts such as preparing marketing materials, participating in meetings with clients and proposals
  • Participate in and lead meetings and conference calls with target company management and with client personnel and serve as an additional point of contact for client personnel with respect to day-to-day execution matters
  • Ability to manage multiple chargeable and non-chargeable projects of varying size and complexity
  • Assist with day-to-day client interaction on deals and other work

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's or master's degree in law, accounting and/or related major
  • Big Four experience required
  • Strong indirect tax (GST) advisory experience
  • Strong technical knowledge of Australian indirect tax (GST) laws
  • The successful candidate will be highly driven, a self-starter, and have strong interpersonal and communication skills. The individual will be insightful, decisive, a critical thinker, and commercial
