Our Infrastructure and Capital Projects and Disputes and Investigations practices are comprised of over than 900 sector experts and specialized consultants across the Globe. We combine strategic and operational expertise with a deep technical knowledge to support developers, sponsors, lenders, and projects leader to select, structure, improve and execute Capital Projects in a more efficient and sustainable way.  

We are expanding our Infrastructure and Construction Disputes and Investigations practice in Canada, and are looking for a Senior Director specializing in large project Construction Claims and dispute advisory to join our team and support clients in claims resolution and loss prevention. We support clients across the life-cycle of capital projects, and act as consulting or testifying experts in the planning, construction and post – construction (operations) phases of a project.

Activities and Responsibilities   

  • Lead and oversee the execution of claims and dispute resolution projects within the infrastructure sector, ensuring accurate analysis, timely delivery, and effective client communication. 
  • Prepare expert reports on issues related to quantum, delay, loss of productivity, technical construction matters (means and methods, quality), and damage calculations.
  • Mentor and coach a team of professionals in the space, helping them learn, develop and grow into future dispute experts in their own right.
  • Support the Managing Directors in our pursuit of excellence and high quality of delivery, identifying highly skilled staff for our team (delay analysis, contract administration specialists, quantum specialists)
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to gather, consolidate, and analyze data. Work seamlessly with our colleagues in the A&M Infrastructure practice on advisory engagements as required.
  • Develop and implement strategies for effectively presenting claims and resolving disputes, while adhering to industry best practices and relevant regulations
  • Prepare presentations, lead meetings and discussions with clients, stakeholders, and legal teams to communicate complex information and support dispute resolution processes. 
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with lawyers and clients in the infrastructure sector, providing valuable insights and guidance in dispute matters. 
  • Participate in industry events and forums to expand professional networks and stay informed about industry developments. 
  • Contribute to the identification of potential claims or disputes and work Opportunities preparing bids and assembling best in class teams to support our clients and help grow our business.

Qualifications  

  • 15 + years of experience in the infrastructure or construction industry with at least 3-5 years in related professional services firms (engineering, big 4 firms, management consulting firms)
  • Effective written and oral communication skills, tailored for interactions within the infrastructure and legal contexts. 
  • Bachelor's or master’s degree in Engineering, Law, Business, Accounting or a related field. 
  • Proven experience in claims and dispute resolution within the infrastructure industry. 
  • Extensive knowledge in best practices and methods of construction claim analysis 
  • Strong analytical skills and the ability to synthesize complex information into actionable recommendations. 
  • Proficiency in relevant software tools and platforms for claims and dispute resolution analysis. 
  • Willingness to travel, as needed. 
  • Understanding of relevant regulations and industry standards in the infrastructure sector. 
  • Strong project management skills to oversee multiple projects simultaneously.
