Our tax practice is unique in that we offer the opportunity to work without audit conflict and truly act a trusted business advisor. One of the largest pillars in our Tax practice is our Federal Tax team who have a deep specialization in tax consulting and compliance services for pass through entities (partnerships, S corps). In many cases, our Tax professionals manage day-to-day client service relationships, and as such, serve as the gateway to a variety of specialized tax services that help to improve compliance with taxing entities, while maintaining each client's overall tax risk profile. Due to our tremendous growth we're seeking a Senior Director to join our team. 

What Will You Be Doing? 

 

As a Senior Director within Federal Tax you will: 

  • Lead the tax compliance process for partners estimates, extensions and annual compliance filings for pass through entities 

  • Lead tax-planning for pass through clients and advise clients on tax implications of their business objectives 

  • Participate in tax-planning for pass through clients and advise clients on tax implications of their business objectives 

  • Lead special projects in specific technical areas such as tax basis balance sheets, capital account maintenance, tax distribution calculations, and structuring opportunities 

  • Establish long term consultative relationships with clients by understanding their business, their unique circumstances, offering proactive support, and timely execution of projects  

  • Build, manage, direct and monitor multiple client engagements teams while maintaining active communication with clients in an effort to manage expectations and help ensure client satisfaction 

  • Manage risk, staffing and financial performance for multiple engagements at once including billing, collections, profitability and project budgets 

  • Provide supportive leadership by providing development and career guidance through mentoring and performance feedback to your team. You will drive your team to stay up to date in tax law changes and apply the most current and innovative tax practices in order to create and sustain a respected reputation in the market 

  • Champion diversity, equity and inclusion across all aspects of the practice 

  • Build relationships across Tax and the rest of A&M. Develop a deep understanding of the areas of expertise across the firm in order to present clients with opportunities for additional support 

  • Actively pursue business development opportunities and prioritize where and how to source new relationships 

  • Regularly meets with contacts to discuss broad business issues and provide insight regarding how Tax and A&M can help address their critical business issues

Qualifications: 

  • Bachelors degree in Accounting  

  • 5 + years’ experience in partnerships with demonstrated ability to resolve complex technical issues. 8 + years of tax experience overall  

  • 4+ years’ experience managing teams and engagements 

  • Licensed CPA 

  • Passion for mentoring, coaching and developing teams 

  • Prior proven experience leading others while managing risk, staffing and financial performance for multiple engagements at once including billing, collections and project budgets 

  • Proven experience working as trusted advisor to clients with a demonstrated ability to help clients understand and interpret analysis, deliverables and recommendations 

  • Excellent verbal and written skills, with the ability to establish credibility and influence clients 

  • Advanced user of all Microsoft Office products (with an emphasis on Excel), GoSystems, and research software 

  • Self-motivated with a high degree of intellectual curiosity. Strong desire to learn and grow. Actively identifies trends and new ideas for enhancing solutions and approaches, particularly with technology  

  • Demonstrated ability to run large complex engagements while overseeing multiple teams and ensuring excellence 

 

Regular employees working 30 or more hours per week are also entitled to participate in Alvarez & Marsal Holdings’ fringe benefits consisting of healthcare plans, flexible spending and savings accounts, life, AD&D, and disability coverages at rates determined from time to time as well as a 401(k) retirement plan. Provided the eligibility requirements are met, employees will also receive a discretionary contribution to their 401(k) from Alvarez & Marsal. Additionally, employees are eligible for paid time off including vacation, personal days, seventy-two (72) hours of sick time (prorated for part time employees), ten federal holidays, one floating holiday, and parental leave. The salary range is $175,000 - $200,000 annually, dependent on several variables including but not limited to education, experience, skills, and geography. In addition, A&M offers a discretionary bonus program which is based on a number of factors, including individual and firm performance.  Please ask your recruiter for details.
