What will you be doing?

 

As part of the Structured Finance Valuation team, you will have the opportunity to assist in the valuation of renewable and alternative energy assets.  Our team works on lease appraisals, asset-based financings, partnership structures and project finance as well as other related engagements. We have valuation expertise across asset classes, working with power, oil and gas, automotive, high-tech manufacturing, construction, dairy, over-the road, rail and aircraft companies. Currently, the majority of our valuations relate to renewable and alternative energy assets including solar, wind, fuel-cell, biogas and battery storage. 

You will assist in the review and consideration of client provided information (including projected cash flows, and other relevant project documentation) as well market, industry and internal information, in order to derive indications of value using the income approach method (discounted cash flow analysis).  You will also analyze market and industry information to be used in the financial models and to develop discount rates.

 

As part of a select, highly skilled, and entrepreneurial team, you will have the opportunity to serve a wide range of participants in the renewable and alternative energy space with valuation services. You will be valuing assets based on discounted cash flow analysis. Primary responsibilities include:

  • Leading an engagement lifecycle, which follows process, timelines, and delivery of valuation schedules and narrative reports to clients.
  • Building strong relationships with clients through exceptional day-to-day project management, coordination, and execution
  • Building and updating financial models using discounted cash flow analyses and performing additional modeling as required based on client needs
  • Training junior team members
  • Reviewing models and inputs
  • Conducting due diligence and maintaining client documentation for use in model building and deliverables
  • Reviewing market and industry information to be used in financial models and discount rate analysis
  • Building and maintaining effective control processes to monitor and track changes to the assumptions of valuation models
  • Contributing to the preparation, creation, and review of reports and other deliverables for clients
  • Building strong relationships with clients through exceptional day-to-day project management, coordination, and execution
  • Proactively communicating efficiently and effectively to all levels of the engagement team

Core Qualifications: 

 

  • 5-10 years of valuation and modelling experience gained at a Big 4 or other reputable consulting firm, investment bank or independent valuation firm
  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Mathematics, or related field
  • Experience in the renewable and alternative energy industry
  • Strong writing skills and experience with developing reports using Microsoft Word
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills required;  VBA, Macros, etc. a plus
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Effective project management, time management and organizational skills
  • Ambitious, results driven, self-starter with a desire to thrive in an entrepreneurial culture

 

Additional Qualifications viewed Favorably: 

  • Experience with coding (VBA or other) in the context of building financial models
  • Qualified or studying for a professional qualification such as CFA/ASA/CPA

 

Full-time Positions and Part-time Positions Over 30 hours

Regular employees working 30 or more hours per week are also entitled to participate in Alvarez & Marsal Holdings’ fringe benefits consisting of healthcare plans, flexible spending and savings accounts, life, AD&D, and disability coverages at rates determined from time to time as well as a 401(k) retirement plan. Provided the eligibility requirements are met, employees will also receive a discretionary contribution to their 401(k) from Alvarez & Marsal. Additionally, employees are eligible for paid time off including vacation, personal days, seventy-two (72) hours of sick time (prorated for part time employees), ten federal holidays, one floating holiday, and parental leave. The annual base salary range is $130-$165k, dependent on several variables including but not limited to education, experience, skills, and geography. In addition, A&M offers a discretionary bonus program which is based on a number of factors, including individual and firm performance.  Please ask your recruiter for details.
