A&M's Global Transaction Tax team is composed of seasoned tax professionals experienced in providing practical tax advice to corporate and private equity buyers and sellers throughout the transaction life cycle. A new service offering in the Global Transaction Tax practice is our License Advisory Services. This team helps companies navigate the complex and nuanced nature of business and operational licenses by accurately assessing licensing needs and facilitating license transitions stemming from large transactional changes due to mergers, acquisitions or restructuring activities. We are seeking a Manager to join our new and growing team.
What Will You Be Doing?
As a Manager within our License Advisory Services Team, you will:
  • Handle communication with federal, state, and local regulatory agencies and departments
  • Research federal and state statutes or local municipal ordinances related to business and operational license requirements
  • Identify resolutions to jurisdictional issues as they arise and communicate to leadership
  • Conduct, review and document research and analysis of a wide range of business and operational licensing impacts stemming from M&A, bankruptcy, and other corporate transactions
  • Attend client calls to understand critical areas of importance and apply technical knowledge to specific client situations
  • Assist with creating deliverables that are concise, complete and address the elements deemed critical by the client
  • Manage and lead staff members to ensure project deadlines are met and address any staffing issues
  • Train and develop staff on technical business license concepts and use of technology tools, as well as project management, communication, writing, and other soft skills
  • Work closely with U.S. management team members to coordinate engagement teams and clearly communicate updates on work plans, project objectives, and timelines for various projects
  • Seek out opportunities to understand others’ experiences, perspectives, and differences
  • Build internal relationships with other members of the Tax team
  • Provide timely and high-quality services and work products that exceed client expectations. 
  • Build client relationships and demonstrate knowledge of client business 
  • Demonstrate professionalism through a positive and cooperative attitude and by maintaining the confidential and proprietary nature of client relationships and related work products

Qualifications:
  • Positive, enthusiastic, and innovative person who is curious and purpose-driven with an agile, growth-oriented mindset
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills; business fluency with the English language and strong spelling and grammar skills required
  • Excellent research, writing, and analytical skills
  • Diligent and proactive person to closely coordinate with the U.S. management team on a regular basis to ensure project teams are properly staffed and issues are timely addressed
  • Solutions-oriented leader who can motivate and manage teams under tight deadlines
  • Capable of training and developing staff members in technical and non-technical skills
  • Proficiency in all basic Microsoft Office products
  • High level of initiative, problem solving and analytical skills in areas of responsibility
  • Highly organized with exceptional attention to detail
  • Self-starter and able to work independently with limited supervision
  • Ability to simultaneously work on several projects and effectively manage deadlines
  • Excellent time management skills and ability to prioritize
  • Previous experience and proficiency in using databases and other similar software applications
  • High motivation to learn and grow, as well as the ability to anticipate needs without prompting
