Job Description
Alvarez & Marsal Canada ULC (“A&M Canada”) is seeking students interested in mergers and acquisitions and the practice of taxation for our Downtown Toronto Office.
A&M Canada tax professionals provide clients with a broad spectrum of transactional tax advisory services to support mergers, acquisitions, carve outs, investment and financing structures, dispositions, and post-transaction activities. Assisting clients before, during, and after the transaction, our practice works with clients across corporate functions to analyze and evaluate a potential target’s tax profile, and to implement planning designed to help meet each organization's goals and business objectives.
As an intern with A&M Canada Tax, responsibilities may include:
Performing tax research
Assisting with the completion of tax due diligence procedures
Assisting with the preparation of reports to clients
Gathering data from clients
Analyzing tax-related financial information
Teaming with other colleagues
Successful candidates will have an opportunity to expand tax research skills and contribute to client deliverables.
With whom will you be working?
We are not a typical tax advisory firm. We are a group of entrepreneurial, action oriented and results driven tax professionals who take a hands-on approach to solving our clients’ problems and helping them reach their potential. We are nimble, resourceful, and proactive and adapt quickly when changes are needed. This internship position offers the opportunity to network with existing and prospective clients and allows the individual to assume additional responsibility quickly. We present opportunities, not a playbook, and we reward achievements, not tenure.
Qualifications:
An interest in pursuing a career in taxation, mergers and acquisitions, or corporate development
Excellent verbal and written communication skills and the ability to articulate complex information
Strong analytical skills
Proficiency with spreadsheets
Ability to simultaneously work on several projects and effectively manage deadlines
Motivation to learn and grow
