Alvarez and Marsal Tax’s U.S. Funds team is a new and unique opportunity. The team will provide a broad range of U.S. tax compliance and reporting, as well as fund structuring and ad-hoc advisory services to European-based clients across many sectors in the Asset Management industry, such as Private Equity and Real Estate.
The team is well placed to provide U.S. tax services, with a focus on international tax issues, to asset managers that have U.S. cross-border activity. A&M is seeking ambitious and enthusiastic top-performing individuals to join the growing business and team.
Coming into the team, your role will be varied, dynamic and have the opportunity to work with some exciting clients. You will work with a number of talented individuals within the business in a supportive surrounding that will provide you the opportunity to challenge your tax technical skills in a stimulating environment.
Position Duties and Responsibilities:
As an Intern/Co-op in the U.S. Funds teams, you will:
Work on various engagements under the guidance of Associates and Managers and gain exposure to a diverse client base;
Use A&M tax technology in order to prepare clean, well-organized workpapers that include relevant book to tax adjustments and investor allocations;
Prepare and review extensions, Schedule K-1/K-3s, federal and state tax returns, and estimates;
Prepare PFIC analysis and PFIC reporting footnotes to the Schedule K-1;
Research and provide evidence of your findings on both international and U.S. tax matters, such as interpreting U.S. tax treaties;
Correspond with tax agencies such as the IRS;
Deliver timely and quality work products that meet or exceed the expectations set out by the engagement team Manager.
Skills and Experience:
Pursuing an Undergraduate degree in Accounting with the intention of obtaining a CPA license OR pursuing a Master's degree in Accounting or Tax Law and in the process of obtaining a CPA license; expected graduation date in 2026 or May 2027 (Minimum GPA: 3.5).
Excellent verbal and written skills.
Strong research and analytical skills.
Strong understanding of Excel and ability to learn new tax software as well as technology processes.
Demonstrate an understanding of basic U.S. accounting concepts
Ability to simultaneously work on several projects and effectively manage deadlines in order to meet deliverable timeframes.
Strong teaming and problem-solving skills.
High motivation to learn and grow.
Detail-oriented and possess strong organizational skills.
