We are seeking a Tax professional (Associate/Manager level) with a focus on Employment Taxes for our growing tax team in the Amsterdam office. This role will give you unique career opportunities in one of the fastest growing tax practices. The Employment Taxes Specialist will be responsible for managing and overseeing all aspects of wage tax and social security advisory for our clients. This role involves ensuring accurate and timely tax advice, including on equity incentives, work on Employment taxes due diligence projects and staying updated on relevant tax laws and regulations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Employment taxes M&A: Be involved in the tax due diligence processes from a wage tax and social security perspective, including reviewing the relevant documentation, having discussion with target management and provide the necessary input for the report.
  • Employment taxes advice: Be responsible for advising a diverse portfolio of (inter)national clients on all aspects of employment-related tax matters. Your focus will be on wage tax compliance and strategic advisory services, including also in the areas of employee participation schemes and management incentive plans. You will work closely with HR, payroll, and legal departments to ensure tax efficiency and compliance across compensation structures.
  • Payroll advisory: Advise on accurate calculation, and reporting of Employment taxes.
  • Regulatory Updates: Stay informed about changes in wage tax and social security laws and regulations and implement necessary updates to payroll processes.
  • Process Improvement: Identify opportunities for improving Employment taxes processes and controls, like a Tax Control Framework, and implement changes to enhance efficiency and accuracy.

What Will You Be Doing? 

As an Associate/Manager within Netherlands Tax team you will: 

  • Attend client calls to understand critical areas of importance and apply technical knowledge to specific client situations. 
  • Create deliverables that are concise, complete and address the elements deemed critical by the client. 
  • Work as part of a multidisciplinary team and clearly communicate work plan, project objectives, and timelines.  
  • Build client relationships and demonstrate a working knowledge of client businesses; with an opportunity to assume additional responsibility quickly. 
  • Identify opportunities to provide additional services to existing clients by using working knowledge of client businesses. 
  • Build internal relationships with other members of the Tax team and the greater A&M firm.
  • Assist with business development, including add-on work by creating business development resources and proposal materials. 

Qualifications:

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in both Dutch and English.
  • A number of years Dutch wage tax and social security experience required.
  • Excellent research, writing, and analytical skills.
  • Strong communication, presentation, project management, and business development skills.
  • Ability to simultaneously work on several projects and effectively manage deadlines.
  • High motivation to learn and grow; and
  • Detail-oriented and possess strong organizational skills.
  • Experience with or interest in management incentive plans is considered a plus, and desirably includes fair knowledge of the lucrative interest, box 2 and box 3 regulations of the Personal Income Tax Act in this respect.
