How you will contribute

The Paralegal/Legal Assistant will support A&M’s Legal Department (“A&M”), with the primary responsibility overseeing A&M’s creation of digital ethical screens/information walls. 

Key Responsibilities

  • Implementing ethical screens pursuant to ethical rules and waivers, at the request of Firm clients, or as directed by the Firm’s Office of General Counsel
  • Liaising with internal staff and relevant departments such as Managing Directors, Executive Assistants, the Conflicts Department and Finance Departments to implement and maintain ethical screen requirements
  • Coordinate with internal Counsel on drafting language of Information Wall memoranda
  • Circulation and tracking of Information Wall acknowledgements through the Firm’s internal workflow system
  • Ongoing monitoring of Information Wall activity to ensure compliance and disabling of Walls when no longer needed or appropriate
  • Acting as the primary point of contact for the Legal Department during any upgrades or testing of the workflow system as it relates to Information Walls, and participating in such testing as required
  • Perform miscellaneous administrative and clerical tasks within the Legal Department as needed
  • Undertake special projects of a complex nature under general supervision

Qualifications & Experience

  • Post-Secondary education preferred.
  • Minimum of 2 years of legal administrative support experience in a professional environment.
  • Familiarity with legal documents and case components
  • Proficient with Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook
  • Excellent interpersonal and listening skills
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Knowledge of correct grammar, spelling and punctuation
  • High level of judgment/organizational skills and initiative to deal with complex duties
  • Ability to prioritize and multitask, while working under pressure to meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to adapt to constantly shifting priorities and a changing work environment
  • Ability to exercise discretion and integrity when dealing with sensitive, highly confidential matters
  • Self-starter with a positive outlook and a desire to solve problems, while working collaboratively with members of the Legal Department and other colleagues across the Firm

The salary range is $60,000 - $65,000 annually, dependent on several variables including but not limited to education, experience, skills, and geography.
